Lael Wilcox is a world leading Ultra-Endurance Cyclist but she’s also one of the nicest people you may ever meet. Traveling 4,000 miles is in her DNA but so is a deep appreciation for riding the bike. From finishing first in major events to mentoring youth riders, she elevates the sport for everyone. While we all drive to the start of a race, she rides from Alaska to Banff to then ride from Banff to New Mexico. In this episode we talk what it’s like to ride these long distances, how she has dealt with mechanicals on the road, what her ideal bike shop experience is like and the Anchorage GRIT program she does for girls in Alaska.

We are in the middle of the most evolutionary time of our generation. Between Covid-19 and the recent events in our communities. We are having tough conversations, picking up broken glass, and educating one another. Pain. Education. Change. A New Future.
In this special episode of the Bicycle Media Podcast, we speak with Damon Turner, Founder of the Los Angeles Bicycle Academy. Damon shares his thoughts on recent events, about the work he does with the Academy, a youth education program, community bike shop and youth cycling team with a mission to empower, educate and develop entrepreneurial and leadership skills in boys and girls between the ages of 8-18.
He also discusses representation in the cycling industry and the need for equality among athletes, especially the black community who train and deserve it. The road ahead is one we need to take with all of us in the peloton together.

In this episode of the podcast we interviewed Tim Travis of Sivart Cycles and the social media movement called Toolbox Wars. Tim was inspired by the custom bicycle mechanic toolboxes that were being built for travel by race mechanics on the World Cup circuit. This has since lead to many professional and amateur mechanics building some creative and lavish tool boxes in pursuit of the annual contest’s top prize. Some say foam is for lattes, but we cut a few panels for ourself, and know first-hand the satisfaction of having good visual organization with some of our favourite tools.

In this episode we caught up with @statebicycleco Co-founder Mehdi Farsi to chat about the origins of his company, what State prefers to focus on for bicycle offerings, their concept store, and their new gravel platform launched in 2020. They started their company fresh out of college and have been making bikes for rad people for a decade now. They’ve established a firm understanding of who rides their bikes, and what makes them tick. Recently, State launched an online video series taking established racers for rides on fixed gear bikes and having a conversation. It’s what we love, branded content at its finest.
This episode also features a new segment, called ‘Around the Board, Talking Bikes’. LA-based artist and producer, Jordan Ruiz kicks things off with a chat about his track ‘Montana’ from his 2016 album called States as well as his State Bicycle Co. Core Line he is currently riding.
